Capturing the beauty of creation at Arapohue Centre, and a sincere thank you to our faithful partners in God’s work at Arapohue Centre, rescuing men. Together we have the answers.
There’s always a sifting and sorting here with the ones who aren’t quite ready to surrender their old ways, and they get moved on. We can have 7 guests one week, and four the next… like the tide ebbing in and out.
Those who are truly receiving miraculous breakthroughs stay on and go deep into God for their transformation. It’s really something to see, the Lord at work and hear things like, "I feel blessed to be alive" and "Thank you for saving my life".
Pictured below is the precious son of one of our guests who is spending his school holidays with his dad, sharing his learning game with Lucy.

The bush project
Half of the land at Arapohue Centre is QEII covenanted native bush (11 acres). Thanks to Team Vegetation for their work to keep the weeds at bay along the roadside perimetre of the bush to protect the new native seedlings that Drury Christian Centre planted. Can you help donate towards the $1,500 for this project?

The Schoolhouse project
A BIG shout to The Maungaturoto Den Inc. trading as Albies Den who granted the Arapohue Centre $12,150 to purchase and install a log burner inside the Schoolhouse currently being renovated.
Albie's Den, located at 31 Hurndall Street East in Maungaturoto, raises roughly $100,000 annually through its humming community op shop. The committee distributes these proceeds as health and wellbeing grants to local groups, families, and individuals in Otamatea and the Kaipara district.

Unfortunately, we missed out on our application to the Proceeds of Crime Fund to restore the Schoolhouse and hire a mental health support worker to join our quest to keep men from going back to prison. So we are relying on more generous donations to stand alongside the loan from Christian Savings needed to restore this old building which was originally a science block at Ruawai Primary School.
Would you consider donating to this worthy project so we can expand the activities of Arapohue Centre to take in more men whose lives have been broken by addiction and trauma?
We have a great need of another MHA Support Worker to work alongside Ray and Jan.
(a) Plumbing: Funding needed to supply and install a water pump, a UV filter system then plumbing to the new bathroom, kitchen and toilet, and stormwater drainage. Total $28,500.
(b) Electrical: Replace old switchboard, re-wire the whole house and new kitchen. Total $23,000.
(c) Upstairs ceiling and wall lining materials: New ceiling and insulation and wall lining materials for the large upstairs room. Total $5,500.

Veggie garden
Thanks to our gardening team Zeph, Phil and Ash the garden is pumping while we await the arrival of our new greenhouse in September. Winter lettuce! The benefits of being so high up on the hill I guess...
Fresh veggies is vital for the healing and recovery of the men. Their bodies and minds have been hammered for years and they soak up the quality nutrition and good ministry/work/life balance.

Your country needs you!
The harvest is ready and the workers are few. We need help! Do you know anyone who would like to volunteer a while... gardening (planting and weeding), cleaning inside the Schoolhouse before painting and much more... we have accommodation available if you need to stay overnight.
