Arapohue Healing & Recovery Centre

unleashing the horsepower at Arapohue

Dear friends,

Horses Hope and Sophie are part of the daily rhythm of life at Arapohue Centre. The guests walk and care for them every day, which helps strengthen their wairua (spiritual) and hinengaro (mental and emotional) walls of their house. It's calming and brings joy just being in their presence!

The guests also get strengthened by visiting The Lighthouse and the Nazarene Churches in Dargaville most Sundays and the Kaiwaka Revival Church Hub monthly meeting.

Work continues restoring the old Arapohue Bush Camp. We are over the half way mark now restoring the buildings. See below for more.

Stay blessed,
Ray, Jan, Gary and the A-team at Arapohue Centre

Men at work

Gary, Jaime, Ash, Zeph and apprentice Daniel have been working hard at restoring these two important rooms inside the Lodge. The Storeroom will be our cellar for pumpkins, watermelons, dried, preserved and frozen food. The Upper Room will be for larger meetings and the table tennis table.

The battle is real

The battle is real and on many fronts. Our precious 11 acres of native QEII covenanted bush is being threatened from the perimeter by noxious weeds and vines. We simply don't have the time or manpower to keep on top of it.

We've done a lot of noxious weed clearing and new native tree planting along the roadside edge of our pristine native bush.

This project is outside the scope of our team to, its way too much and it's on the edge of a very steep slope. Team Vegetation have quoted $2,500 to do the work. Can you please help us be good kaitiaki (caretakers)?

Jan has sent out everyone's charitable donation tax receipts now. Please let her know if you haven't received yours as Jan's been having problems with her email. Thank you so much for your donations, partnership. We simply couldn't do it without you!

We've received a donation towards the pond project which has given us hope, but we still have two thirds to go. We've put this project on hold for the moment (keeping the deposit aside) until the right time. Meantime, we've had to start another urgent project- more on this next time.
