Healing haven for the heavy laden

where we find new life together

Dear friends,

The men are enjoying the benefits of off-site courses and organisations such as Man Up, Making Changes (Te Ara Oranga), Narcotics Anonymous, Celebrate Recovery and counselling through Dargaville Community Health (when appropriate) and Man Alive (when court-ordered) and Te Ha Oranga's services.

These local teams are an asset to our rohe (region) and complement our residential service perfectly. We love our local 'mental wealth' and addictions teams! Together we have the answers.

While work continues on Hoyle Lodge we are planning the next crucial project... restoring the pond which supplies the farm water for our beautiful therapy animals... horses Hope and Sophie, and Blacknose Valais sheep Jessie, Amos and Isaac. The pond water currently is so foul it's borderline dangerous for them to drink so this is an urgent project... see further down.

Stay blessed,
Ray, Jan and the A-team

Kia Ora Jan & Ray,
Our Kaipara Mental Health Service understand that your Arapohue Retreat is a special and sacred space for people to get away from the rat race and find a safe space to be nurtured while they heal and recover from the trials and tribulations of life.

Your spiritual work is very healing and your Christian worldview seems to bring a lot of meaning into the lives of lost souls too.
As a Community Mental Health Nurse and key worker to some of our mutual Whaiora – I am always reassured when I am allocated or delegated to serving alongside your Retreat.

We and the Retreat practice with open hearts and with open minds, when it comes to working in collaboration, to enable our Whaiora to navigate their way out of distress, confusion, despair, pain, suffering and loss – and reach for hope, faith, blessing, grace, growth and recovery – and feel that they are indeed worthy and deserving of love and respect – even if they feel they have not shown it to others themselves.

I feel that we both invest in Mental Wealth and I am grateful & wish to thank you for being in the same locality as us.

Hope's health

Hope's been sick with a hoof infection from a roofing nail, colic and laminitis! She's on the mend now but there's a big vet bill coming our way... can you please help? Est approx $1,000.

Elijah House School for Prayer Ministry

Ray's been away all last week at the Elijah House School for Prayer Ministry 'D-School' which completes his intensive training. Subjects included the resurrection side of healing, overcoming fears, depression, grief, burnout, spiritual adultery, spiritual rebellion, and healing the effects of occult involvement.

We recommend that every pastor, prayer minister and Christian counsellor attend these dynamic inner-healing teaching schools.

WHAT IT COULD BE (this is Benji's natural pond)

WHAT IT COULD BE (this is Benji's natural pond)

Benji Woodman (orchardist/landscaper) and Caleb Salisbury (arborist/digger) have planned the pond restoration (top photo). The current pond water is black and smells like Rotorua (no offence Rotorua). However, our precious therapy animals have to drink it!

Restoring the pond involves draining, digging it out, laying a pond liner, installing an aeration pump and planting a riparian zone of natives. Est cost is $16,000. This work has to be done in autumn in the window of one week so the rain can fill it up quickly. Can you help? Every bit helps!

A bonus to this project, apart from providing safe water for the farm animals, is a swimming and baptism pond for our hard-working guests.
